Yale’s Peabody Museum of Natural History is closing up shop for three years for renovations, and the window is closing to check out the museum’s dinosaur exhibit before it shuts down.

The New Haven museum plans to bolt up its dino hall Dec. 31, with the rest of the building shuttering in the summer.

The dinosaurs are poised for a glorious comeback in 2023.

“It takes a great amount of time to take dinosaurs apart and put them together again,” Chris Norris, the museum’s director of public programs, told the Hartford Courant. “We’re going to take the dinosaurs to a place in Canada where they will be cleaned and stabilized. They’re getting a facelift for the 21st century.”

The Peabody opened in 1866 and has not received a comprehensive renovation in nine decades.
