The traveling Jurassic Quest dinosaur show featuring more than 80 life-size animatronic dinosaur replicas opens Friday and runs through Sunday at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd.

Visitors can walk through the Cretaceous, Jurassic and Triassic periods and see dinosaurs of all sizes roaming and roaring. There is a new “Ancient Oceans” exhibit with a 50-foot-long megalodon that folks can get up close to along with giant, prehistoric sea turtles and dolphins. There will also be a chance to interact with baby dinosaurs.

Along with the lifelike dinosaur exhibits, there will be a slew of activities throughout the event for all ages, including dinosaur themed rides, Bungee Pull, Fossil Dig, Jurassic Jeeps, and Dino Scooters. Highlights include baby dinosaur shows, walking dinosaur shows, dinosaur themed bounce houses, science stations and a dino cinema. There will also be crafts and coloring stations and face painting.

Jurassic Quest organizers worked with paleontologists to make sure that each dinosaur is replicated accurately. Visitors can learn about paleontology at the excavation station, where they can dig up fossils and at the dinosaur museum, where they can see dinosaur fossils dating back more than 60 million years, including bones found in North America.
